Gosha met Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche and was given her name (Sanskrit for ‘Melody’ as in Manjugosha – ‘he of melodious speech’) in 1998. Rinpoche also gave her the vows and permission to wear robes in 2003 and then put her into 3 year Retreat at Vajradhara Gonpa, Australia.
She went overseas for the first time in 2009 on pilgrimage to India, Nepal and Bhutan and in 2011 received novice ordination under the auspices of Rabjam Rinpoche, Changling Rinpoche and Dilgo Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche. The traditional Tibetan title for a nun is ‘Ani’ which means ‘Aunty’. Gosha is encouraging the use of the more respectful term ‘Tsunma’, as suggested by Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo. This is the classical term for a nun, as ‘Tsun’ means ‘pure, noble, disciplined, learned, virtuous and of good character etc.’ This is something Gosha aspires to…..
Gosha now travels each year to India to study at Shechen monastery in Bodhgaya. When not traveling she stays near the beach in northern New South Wales, Australia.
